Andrew Nathanson - Vice President

Drew has more than 20 years experience in industrial enterprise program management, general management, strategy consulting, and business development. Drew manages the AutoID Practice, delivering syndicated and proprietary research covering major AIDC, RFID, NFC, RTLS and other related markets.  Prior to joining VDC, Drew launched and served as Principal of Blue Flame, a management consulting firm focusing on the advanced materials and sciences industry and their related tech markets. Drew began his career with Integrated Separation Systems as a production manager for high volume automated PAGE Gel manufacturing and analysis. He then moved on to Boston Optical Fiber, where he managed all product design, development, production, PR and marketing activities for the company’s Plastic Optical Fiber and associated product lines.  Drew is a graduate of Clark University (BS, biology and chemistry) and Northeastern University (MBA, concentration in high-tech).

 


Michael Liard - Director, RFID

Michael is VDC’s Director of RFID in the firm’s AutoID research practice. Michael serves as VDC's lead analyst and consultant on all proprietary research and consulting engagements involving RFID product, market or channel development.  Michael has covered the RFID and broader automatic identification industry, including research and analysis for barcode, contactless, NFC and RTLS technologies and solutions for more than a decade. Prior to VDC, Michael was employed by ABI Research as Practice Director, RFID.  He also worked for Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) in their Organization and Human Performance practice. Michael has contributed to and has been cited in various industry trade press and national publications, including national TV appearances. Michael has also been a speaker at a number of industry-related conferences. Michael was presented the “Excellence in Journalism Award” by AIM Global in 2011. He was the first industry analyst to receive the award since its inception. Michael graduated Summa Cum Laude from Providence College (Rhode Island, USA) where he studied Political Science (major), Business, Marketing, Finance, and Economics (minors).
 

 


Richa Gupta - Analyst

Richa has worked as an Associate Research Manager in the Customer Satisfaction Management and Measurement (CSMM) division at IMRB International, Mumbai. Her stint there involved work on Customer and Channel Partner Satisfaction studies, Customer Relationship Assessment (CRA) and Customer Transaction Assessment (CTA) for one of India’s largest telecom service providers. During the course of her MBA, she took up a 4-month Internship at a salon chain wherein she was instrumental in designing the Operational Audit format along with being an integral part of the team that set up the software module for achieving operational standardization. Richa has a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Pune, India and holds an MBA in Retail Management from NMIMS, Mumbai, India.
 

 


John Shuster - Analyst

John has experience in strategy and research consulting, private equity, and project management. At VDC, John is an analyst for the firm’s Consumer Engagement Technology and Retail Automation coverage. Prior to working as a CET analyst, John was responsible for VDC’s 2010 Land Mobile Radio study in the Mobile and Wireless practice. John has also worked as an Associate at Stax, Inc., a Boston-based strategy consulting firm, focusing on investment diligence and market opportunity assessment engagements. During his post-graduate studies, John completed a year-long corporate residency program at Boston Ventures, a middle-market private equity firm, where he was responsible for supporting operations in the finance and accounting department. John is a graduate of Dickinson College (BA, English) and Northeastern University (MBA, finance).

 


Sherrie Nankin - Account Director

Sherrie has almost a decade of experience partnering with executives in the finance, health services, and technology industries.  At VDC she is responsible for business development, account management, and analyst relations in the AutoID practice.  Prior to working at VDC, Sherrie was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Experture Research.  At Experture she drove new sales efforts by orchestrating distribution opportunities and marketing campaigns throughout North America.   Sherrie is a graduate of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
